A derived daily record
One row per person per day, projected from the punch ledger with the shift, the policy, the holiday calendar and approved leave already applied. Nothing hand-edits it, so the number can still be explained months later.
Leave-aware
The derivation reads approved leave, so an approved day is never recorded absent — and a half-day of leave alongside a worked half comes out as one day, not two.
Regularization
A missed punch is fixed by claiming what happened and having it approved — inside a window you configure, capped per month if you want. The approved claim re-derives the day; it never rewrites the original punch.
Effective-dated rosters
A shift change starts on the date you set and leaves prior history untouched.
An append-only record
Every punch is an event. Nothing edits the ledger after the fact.
